Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a procedure for treating infertility. Sperm that have been washed and concentrated are directly in your uterus around the time your ovary releases one or more eggs to be fertilized.
The hopoed-for outcome of intrauterine insemination is for the sperm to swim into the fallopian tube and fertilize a waiting egg, resulting in pregnancy. Depending on the reasons for infertility, IUI can be coordinated with your normal cycle or with fertility medications.
In Vitro Fertilization & Embryo Transfer - IVF/ET
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), is a laboratoty procedure where eggs are fertilized by sperm outside of the womb. During IVF, eggs are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries and combined with a sement sample from the male in a laboratory dish (in order to become fertilized). Once an embryo is created, it is either transferred into the uterus to achieve pregnancy or cryopreserved for future use.
Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection - ICSI
Intra-Cyptoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a fertilization procedure used during IVF; with this option, a single sperm is injected into an egg. During a traditional IVF cycle, the sperm and eggs are placed next to each other in a laboratory dish in order to achieve fertilization. ICSI is performed under a microscope, using some of the most advanced micromanipulation devices available. In Vitro Maturation - IVM
In Vitro Maturation (IVM) is an assisted reproductive technology that involves collecting eggs from a woman before they are matured with hormonal injections. After immature eggs are collected via a minor surgical procedure, they are then matured in culture using hormones or soon, a naturally occuring oocyte protein dimer. Typically, then the matured eggs are manually fertilized using a process called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Once the embryos have time to begin development, they are transferred into the woman’s womb and the wait begins to see if pregnancy occurs.
Preimplantation Genetic Testing - PGT-A / PGT-SR / PGT-M
Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is an advanced laboratory technique used alongside IVF to analyze embryos for genetic or chromosomal abnormalities before transfer.
- PGT-A checks for abnormal numbers of chromosomes (aneuploidies) to improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy.
- PGT-SR detects structural rearrangements in chromosomes to prevent miscarriage or genetic disorders.
